Poem by Jon Benham
Searching through the stars,
wondering where you are.
A trail of smoke from the ground scours,
you and I as we cower.
To see the world through your eyes,
I find that you like to be in the sky.
Looking at the world, just to stare,
but the ground leaves a glare.
Vexed by the twists and turns,
I am fully clothed in my burns.
Your words come out like mysteries
of your own tortured history.
But as you release your timeless smile
the pain has certainly been gone for a while.
I will never stop searching through the stars
wondering how you are.
wondering where you are.
A trail of smoke from the ground scours,
you and I as we cower.
To see the world through your eyes,
I find that you like to be in the sky.
Looking at the world, just to stare,
but the ground leaves a glare.
Vexed by the twists and turns,
I am fully clothed in my burns.
Your words come out like mysteries
of your own tortured history.
But as you release your timeless smile
the pain has certainly been gone for a while.
I will never stop searching through the stars
wondering how you are.
