We are a new literary arts website that focuses on poetry, prose, art, plays, and essays. Please send all submissions to [email protected].

Along with our usual submission policies, which you can find here, we are also accepting pieces about career changes.

​For most people, a job is more than what they do for a few hours a day. It changes their outlook on life, how they view themselves as citizens, and it is a major deciding factor on whether they're happy or not. Some people, more and more each year, realize that what they thought they wanted isn't what they want. So, they have to figure out what it is they want out of their career.

The Basil O' is now accepting submissions for a new category called Career in Writing. Despite how the name sounds, the topic does not have to be a writing career. Maybe you were a teacher who decided that you were meant to be a singer. Maybe you were a singer who found that your passion is really in nursing. Either way, we want to hear about it! Please submit short essays on this topic to [email protected]. Title these emails with "Career in Writing, [Author Name], [Date]" and include a short third-person bio with the piece.
